My first post, so please be gentle :p

I have a Fiat Marea Weekend HLX 2 litre. It is a left hand drive car originally from Finland and now being driven in France. The person that owned it before made some pretty useless alterations which I am now trying to get back to original (choice in left hand drives was limited and otherwise car is great!).

The car is currently fitted with aftermarket alloys and I want to go back to steel wheels, but struggling to get hold of any and find out what will or wont fit.

I found the following information off the internet (tireaddict.com), this is for the Marea and not the weekend, not sure if that makes a difference?:

Original tyres:
185 / 70 R14
Optional Sizes
195 / 55 R15
195 / 60 R15
205 / 55 R15
205 / 50 R16

Original wheel:
5.5Jx 14 ET43
Optional Sizes
6Jx 14 ET38
6.5Jx 15 ET38
6.5Jx 16 ET38
7Jx 15 ET35
7Jx 16 ET35

My certificate of conformity for the car states: 195/60 R15 88Q/V M+S 6JX15-49 (I'm not sure what the M+S 6JX15-49 means?).

I've tried online searches of scrapyards in the UK and France, but I suspect that as it's a Marea there aren't many about.

I've also tried going round scrpyards to try to find wheel that may match but no joy there.

So here are my questions:

What size wheels and tyres do I need for a Fiat Marea Weekend?
Will only Fiat wheels have the correct hole spacing?
Will wheels off any other (more popular) Fiat models fit?
Where can I buy (preferably second hand) wheels in UK or Europe?

The reason for changing the wheels is that I am getting lots of wobble through the steering wheel. When I bought my car the suspension had been lowered so much that if someone sat in the back of the car the wheel arches cut into the tyres - great! I have had new original springs put back on and the car now rides at it's normal height. The tyres were wrecked so I had 4 new tyres put on and balanced but I still have a lot of wobble through the steering wheel at all speeds.

I've had the wheels and tyres checked a 4 different garages, none of them has said there is anything wrong, but I wonder whether alloys with slightly the wrong stud spacing have been used (I read it is possible to fit 100mm spaced onto the Fiats but this can cause a wobble?)...clutching at straws here...i don't know! I've spent £300+ on suspension and £300+ on tyres and balancing and would really just like to get my car driving nicely without the wobble. It is esepcially important as I tow a caravan and although the car tows great I am worried about any wobble transfering to the caravan.

(Don't even get me started on the problems we had trying to get a removable towbar fitted!!).

Thanks very much for any help...completely non-mechanically minded Marea owner :)

2.0l 20valve models were fitted with 6x15 alloy wheels and 195x60x15 tyres as standard, anything less than 15 inch will not clear the brakes.
The distance between the bolts or the PCD as it is known is 98, iI belive the centre bore is 58.1 that the whole in the middle tha fit over the raised bit on the disc.
Any 15-16-17 and possibly 18 inch wheel will fit with the correct tyres.
I run 7x17 and 39 offset with 215x40x17 tyres with no issues.
I am pretty sure the wheel offet is 35 to 39.
Any alloy wheel retailer should be able to sort you out with the correct wheels or just check Ebay..
The wheel wobble could also be down to warped discs ??

Thanks for the help.

My car currently has 205/40 R17 on Miglia alloys. They are very scuffed, could the wobble be due to buckled wheels? The wobble seems to be coming from each wheel so not sure whether warped dics are likely, unusual for it to be all wheels and not worse when braking, still brakes straight etc.?

I didn't realise my model only came with alloys, may explain why I have had trouble finding second hand steel wheels!

I read on the internet that the PCD is 98mm, but that most manufacturers use 100mm and that people often put the wrong wheels on, they don't bolt up correctly and can wobble? Would have thought a garage would have noticed though if this was the case?

I'm not fussed about getting new alloys, happy with second hand steels or alloys, but want to go back to the original 15 inch (so far any non-standard modifcations have been a nightmare on this car!).

As it is so difficult to find second hand Marea wheels are there any other cars in the Fiat range that would have a 6x15 wheel to take 195x6015?

Thanks again for the help.

Hi,

Fiat Marea has the following specs(weekend is also same)

Rim size:5.5x14
Offset:37
Pattern:4x98
Centre Bore:58.1
Tyre size:175/70R14

Thee specs are for standard for Marea manufactured between 1996 and 2002.

If you are after 15" wheels then see below for the correct specs.

Rim size:6.5x15" or 6x15"
Offset:35-47
Pattern:4x98
Tyre sizes:195/55R15-205/55R15-205/50R15-185/60R15

These are taken from international fitment guide so you can count on them.If you change your mind and want to get some affordable aftermarket wheels ,check this site http://www.alloy-wheels-store.com/fiat-wheels.html

Hope this helps,

Try this, take off one of your wheels and look at the centre bore, measure it and see if it is 58.1mm.
As they are afermarket alloys then they may be fiited with SPIGOT RINGS, this could be the problem, if the wrong spigot rings are fitted then this may cause the wobble you are expiriencing.
It is extremely important that the rings are the correct ones for your alloys and for the Marea.

My wheels are 100mm PCD and have wobble bolts and I have no trouble with them, I previously had Mille Miglia fitted and had problems with wobble at speed. The cause turned out to be the damaged spigot rings

Thanks again for the info.

Notorious - it's interesting that you mention the spigot rings.

Thinking about it, it was actually only the back two tyres that I had replaced as the lowered suspension had caused the back wheel arches to cut into my previous tyres. Rather than have new tyres on the back and old ones on the front I asked my partner to swap the fronts and backs around. when garage number 3 looked at the car they tapped out some rings from inside the centre of the wheel (I assume these were spigots, garage owner only spoke French so I couldn't understand completely?) and they altered them around, I think that only one pair of the wheels had the rings and the others didn't so they swapped them around for me, but the wobble continued regardless of whether the ring was on front or back.

I will get my other half to have a look and see what rings are on. So I take it that regardless of the size of the PCD of the wheel this can be adjusted using correctly fitted spigot rings?

Learning something new everyday!

Have just found out that all of the wheels are badly buckled, so that explains the severe wobbling. Disppointed as took it to at least 4 garages and it only got picked up when I had my controle technique done (French MOT) and after I have spent a lot of money on new tyres.

So the search continues for new wheels!

Hi I havea 02 1.9 diesel Marea Weekend will Stilo or Bravo/Brava alloys fit? it has the standard 14 steel rims fitted thanks in advance
