Well chuffed after collecting my 2.4 jtd marea, the thing is so damn fast, it sits in good company fiat x19 fiat strada abarth and various alfas.

took the car to my mate who runs an italian specialist garage to get it on the ramp to check it out, horror, the floors and sills are in such a bad state, inner sills are shot at least 400 quids worth of welding, not a drop of rust on the body... well gutted, but i have decided i am going to have the welding done in the next few weeks the car has only coverd 85k

Aye, got a 1.6 marea sat at me nans, got random pieces rusting but not the body work, its kind of a wtf moment lol, even the rear axle aint looking to healthy??

Even oil sumps going??

Heck my 11 year old micra with 116k miles on it doesnt have a rusty sump lol.

A rusty "bottom" was the reason i got rid of my marea. I'd spent a shed load on it last year for the MOT and thought sod it i aint doing it this year.

Shame, i hope i can restore the one i've got before it gets too late! if not it'l be a sad day for it!

But i think i can :D.

The underseal fails and lets water in to do its' damage without you noticing.

A good session underneath with grinder, welder and hammerite/underseal should ensure another few years use (brake pipe clips also attract water and encourage rust..)

Front mudflaps are a good idea too.

got my marea other day thought just sills needed done but by looks fllor think needs a lot more :( and mot due in month

Yeah it was a bit of a afterthought, i have to clean the underseal of mine at the weekend and re-do it in places that i have done already, i run mudflaps front and back too really a very good idea and for £10 you can't go wrong

Ahhh for goodness sake, this apsolutely sucks!

Performing my second rust removal treatment today, decided i needed to be a bit brisker with the drill wire tip and,

Under the damned spare wheel ><

Theres definately good metal when you remove enough rust, im toying with lead sheet welding now as i have some led, and it has a low melting temperature, wonder if i can get it to stick to the body, then use filler to cover it, still need to get rid of this dam rust :(.
