Hi everyone!

I just signed up and introduced myself on the "Newbie" page. I'm driving a Marea Weekend TD125 HLX from 1997. :)

I've got a question regarding the original alarm. I suspect the car doesn't have a working alarm anymore. When I switch the alarm on/off in the fusebox under the steering wheel, nothing happens. Also, I cannot open the car with the remote control on the keys. The red lamp on the key does flash, though when I press the button...

Me and a friend recently picked up another Marea HLX, with a 2.0 20v engine, for spare parts. It also consists of an original, and more important, WORKING alarm/remote locking unit, with two blue keys, one red key and a CODE-card with password.

I was wondering if it's possible to swap the alarm units without too much hassle? Which parts have to be swapped, in order to get the alarm and the remote control to work in my Marea. Is it a problem with my Marea being a diesel and the other one running on petrol. I guess I also have to swap the ECU's and the immobilizers of the cars and I thought they may differ from each other, with the cars running on different kind of fuel.

I'm eagerly awaiting your replys :) Thanks in advance!

Much love,

Louis
