Try another bulb before you start taking it apart, I have had new bulbs not working out of the box before. If you have a multimeter you can quickly check there is 12v at the bulb connector and also check the bulb for continuity.

Good luck:)

It wont be the earth, that would knock out main and dip. If you swap the bulbs l-r it will tell you if its them or wiring. If its wiring look st the contacs, corroded? try some cleaner maybe you can tweak it a bit? Do you have or can you make a 12v test bulb just a 12v one with 2 wires a crock clip on the earth is a big help( or a meter of course)
If you just use a bulb try the contact to ground ~(test the bulb across the battery first). If it can be made to work its your connector, if not its the wire, broken or an in line connextor in trouble. Finding this without a circuit diagram and some info on how the loom runs will be a major pain but give it a go. Lastly, between us you could run a wire across the car from the good dip circuit and splice it into the failed one close to the bulb. If you are forced into this use a heavy gauge wire.

Guys , thanks for the helpful replies , it turned out to be two issues - the spade connection to the lamp was pants so i replaced it also the bulb i put in new and tested three days ago refused to work any where!!! , so i got some new nightbreakers and installed them- all great now thanks again guys.
