Heated rear screen relay

Heated rear screen is not working on R reg TD125 Weekend. Fuse is fine, mirrors demist fine, & tailgate wiring is OK, connectors not corroded. So..... can anyone tell me where the relay lives?

Re: Heated rear screen relay

Mareas have to get by with the Brava/Brovo Haynes manual. This is not very helpful on relay locations and the car handbook gives zero info. The relay should be one of those in the main fuse box on the drivers side, I expect you have already checked the fuses there the circuit shows it as R3. Its switched via the ign but not the ign relay per this diagram, but beware it is a Brava/Bravo manual and Im sure mine is turned off if the engine is not running.
Have you tried a test light or meter on the element, it should be 12 v one side and 0 the other, 12v both sides is an earth fault. Does the warning light come on in the switch? Its in parallel with the realy coil.

Re: Heated rear screen relay

Yes I've tested wiring at the element & there's no voltage with ignition on, engine running & switch light on. In the absence of exact relay location I'll have a dig around in the footwell & see what I can find...

Re: Heated rear screen relay

Hmm... relay is fine, but I now have a bagger problem
I can't start the car - dash lights look normal, the Code light comes on & goes off, the Glowplug light comes on & goes off, but when I try to start it the starter doesn't engage. If I try again I get the code light flashing & can hear relays (under the bonnet I think) flashing in time with it. Second key does the same & worryingly so does the red one. Any ideas - really need this running for the wife to get to work tomorrow?

Re: Heated rear screen relay

OK Panic over - my wife left the interior light on for 3 days so the battery is b*ggered! I just noticed the interior light switch was in the full on position when I was thinking what to do next & the penny dropped. This must be the 10th time she's done this usually on her Bravo, but she's been driving mine for a fortnight now. I should have realised it was about time she did it again - is a three position switch REALLY such a difficult concept to grasp?
