Has anyone within Bedford, Northampton, Milton Keynes or surrounding areas got the cam/crank locking kit for a Marea 1.6 engine? If so I would like to borrow/hire it. I am happy to pick it up and leave a sensible deposit against its return in good order. Car is in a garage at the moment stripped down to the cambelt and with a dicky water pump. They do not have and cannot find a locking kit!!
Really stuck guys so if you can help it would be appreciated.(y)

In the end I have had to bite the bullet and buy the cam locking kit, £120 for something I will probably only use once :(

If anyone out there needs one of these then I guess I will rent it out for a small fee to recoup some of the expense. I live near Bedford so let me know.

Gahhh! Take it back! Why do you need one? I've built so many engines in the past 20 odd years, never have I even seen one of these things! Even the Haynes manual tells you can do the job without one! I would suggest that the garage you are using isn’t employing a competent mechanic. Sounds more like a fitter. I regret I didn’t see you’re request in time. Even if you move the crank by accident, you have all the timing marks there to set it up again! Timing an engine like this is a basic job! Just make sure the marks have a dab of white gloss paint or even tipex on them.
I’m not just having a rant, this sort of genuinely makes me angry.

For my last project, a Honda twin cam, and my latest, a Ford V4.
