Hi

I posted about this problem a while back in another thread, im running a marea 1.9jtd 105 elx and what happens is when the car is rev'd hard the engine cuts completely, injector light shows battery light shows and it takes a good 5 mins before i can turn her back over, however after the 5 minutes she will turn over no problem and runs fine, their doesnt seem to be any problems during normal reving its only during a hard push that she cuts.

I've been searching the forums for a while trying to find a solution to this, i've cleaned the map and maf and the egr seems ok, tried with maf disconnected and egr blocked this makes no difference to the problem, the only thing i havent had a chance to try yet is the rpm sensor but im not sure if this will help, i have also seen alot of jtd's have an overboost valve though im unsure if this applies to this model of jtd and if it would even affect the car in this way.

Any help regarding this would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Damian.

Just a quick update to add that having now worked out the mpg, the car seems to be doing approximatly 32 mpg and that seems kind of low for a diesel i have noted most people in the forums do an average of 40+ mpg.

does it cut out immediately with the boot down or after a few seconds or minutes ?. I'd check for fault codes first anyway. could possibly be a fuel pump / high pressure pump / injector problem.

Thanks for the reply, codes im trying to get sorted hopefully over the next week or two a friend can get it down to his garage, and no its not instantly when you boot it more like when it hits a certain rpm, i've been told to check the turbo as the car seems to have stack loads of power even in the lower gears and revs as if the turbo was constantly working, theirs no real build up to power its just there straight away and pulls like a truck till the cut off kicks in.

the only really noteable weird thing is once it cuts you have to leave it for 5-10 mins if you dont it just turns and turns and turns as if there was no fuel.

again thanks for the reply sorry if the description isnt the best give me a computer and im fine cars i still have a lot to learn.

boost pressure problems would not cause it to cut out.. maybe go to limp mode but not cut out. does it only do this when hot ? if you have to wait a while before it will restart, it sounds like a typical crank sensor problem.

No it does this hot or cold, im not sure on what the crank sensor is or does in all honesty but i have been told to check into it before, i know their not very expensive to replace just awkward to get too without a decent lift on the car.

Also i've never had a limp mode it just plain out cuts and as stated takes time before it will restart. sounds like i need to do more reading up on this crank sensor, thanks again for the reply
