Right, having trouble with my 2.4 JTD HLX
I've recently put on new disks and pads and was very suprised when I put it in for its MOT for it to fail quite so badly on the handbrake.
On closer inspection, everything is working at the back as it should. the mechanism is free and moving when the handbrake is applied on both side (although the rubbers are a little tired and cracked on the cables)
When I removed the pads I noticed they were wearing oddly on the back and found this to be the pistons on the rear calipers not being wound back into a straight position which was catching on a little nobble on the back of the pad. I bought some new pads today and fitted them.... and still next to no handbrake!
I adjusted the screw under the handbrake lever to tighten it up a bit then drove up the road for a few mile with the handbrake on, no joy! Even put a bag of sand in the back and still next to no handbrake. :bang:
I'm running out of ideas! Its biting and the back of the car is dipping but it won't hold on a slope and I'm slowly running out of time for a re-test. the normal brakes feel fine under normal braking. nice and sharp with no slop.
Help please! :worship:
