General bulbs advice..

had my night breakers HI'S today 11 quid off flea bay fitted them no probs just waiting for tonight to check them out watch this space!!

Osram Nightbreakers are great bulbs, only drawback: they won't last very long, about 6 months average, (I do have to admit I run my lights night and day, for safety reasons).
I was fed up with having to change the ( expensive) bulbs every 6 months, so right now I'm running the all new Phillips EcoVision bulbs, they last longer, give 50% more light than standard ( according to Autoexpress), and......save fuel......!!!
The perfect combination, if you ask me.

I think I must be lucky mine are a lot older than six month and not had one go on me yet come to think of it never heard anyone else mention about them not lasting long. Just had a thought your surname wouldnt happen to be Phillips by any chance lol.

I've read a few reports here about the nightbreakers not lasting long, but it seems hit and miss. Some last 6 months some last ages.

I used the Nightbreaker in two different cars, in H4 and H7 form.
In both cars they lasted only about 6 months,( 10.000km= 6250mls) and both cars are running lights night and day.
Since about 3 weeks I run the Philips Ecovision in H4 form in one of my cars ( the other still uses the Osram Nightbreaker, but when they fail, it's Ecovision as well..).
It's just to expensive for me to pay for 4 sets of premium car bulbs every year....!!!

how can those ecovision bulbs save fuel?
The description says that they are 55W, so they consume 55W just as every other (normal) lamp on the market.
The only possibility is that, because they're so bright, they are in fact like 40W bulbs branded as 55W.

I just replaced my parking lights with bright led ones so I'm more noticeable. It isn't legal but with today's daytime running lights there's nobody that notices it.
