this seems a weird one,non of the needles are working and neither is the odometer.Everything else lights up like 'lights on' icon,'door open' icon,'HB' , indicators etc..just the needles and odometer dont work

all was working fine and as it should before car came off the road, ive recently purchased a new battery and was hoping this would solve it..but it hasnt, so im confused.

Anyone any ideas?

Mike

came across this, what relay is it they're on about?
https://www.fiatforum.com/marea/12511...d-working.html

also seen another thread on a brava,by removing the negative from the battery for a sec or 2 then reconnecting? Is it down to me jump starting my old battery the amount of times i did and then swapping over to a new one? But my thoughts would be if putting a new battery on would cure it?

or is just simply bad connections on the plugs at the back?

I had simmilar probs on my Marea, turned out to be the block connecter on the back of the dash, it had come loose and occasionally lost dials and then they went completely.

Take the dash out and make sure all the block connecters are pushed on solid, might even help if you put on a bit of WD40.

was wondering how it would be the connectors on the back as ive never had the dash out so bit puzzled how they would be lose. Im going to strip it later and unplug everything, give the contacts a clean and replug it all see if it solves it.

i been out this afternoon and stripped the dash and the 3 plugs on the clocks were tightly in place,so i pulled them out and plugged them back in and still no difference.I went over all the fuses again and still not 1 has blown:confused: On the fuse cover it shows Service twice, but i have no idea which fuse they are.Weird thing is,before i took the car off the road everything worked fine.Whilst checking the fuses i came across a brown relay right behind the sterring wheel basicaly,to the left of the 2 vertical fuses.Could this be the culprit? 1 of the pins looked a bit brown.

Ok...on my 20v i have a fuse behind the centre console which i can access from the passenger side footwell. {20 amp) LOOK UP BEHIND THE CENTRE CONSOLE ON PASSENGER SIDE.I KNOW IT SOUNDS WIERD BUT GIVE IT A LOOK. THE FUSE I HAVE LOCATED MAY BE AN ADD ON TOO MY CAR AND YOURS MAY NOT HAVE IT. DONT FORGET THESE CARS HAVE SPLIT ELECTRICS . FRONT AND REAR OF CAR RUN OFF DIFFERENT FUSES.ie .THE TWO VERTICAL FUSES REPRESENT FRONT AND BACK.
THE SERVICE FUSES ARE DESCRIBED IN ONE OF MY EARLIER POSTS , CHECK IT OUT AS I CAN T REMEMBER OFF HAND WHAT I WROTE. DOH!!!!! . iF YOU CANT FIND INFO ON SERVICE FUSES LET ME KNOW I WILL PUT NEW POST IN WITH INFO

just a thought. have you checked the two wires on the engine speed RPM sensor. They are soldered on. the sensor is situated on the bell housing but you need to shine a torch right down the back of the bulkhead to see it. On reading your post again i think it highly unlikely a fuse as all lights working on dash ,but a bad connection as quoted from Notorious131.
More likley a sensor or sender or a relay. I will try find out which relay you need to check today.

Just been out and had a good look up from the passebger footwell and couldnt see any fuse.Just wiring and cables.
If you could post up what wattage the service fuses are then ill replace them with new ones give that a try.

yer thats what i dont get,all lights work etc just the dials and odometer  Like i say i took all 3 plugs off the clocks and reconnected them and still nothing.was actually thinking how it would be the connections at the back as it were all working fine when it was on the road

Thanks

ACCORDING TO THE MANUAL..... AS FOLLOWS
....AT THE FUSE BOX THE SERVICE FUSE IS N0.10...10amp
THIS FUSE IS FOR
1.INTERNAL LIGHTS FRONT AND BACK
2.INSTRUMENT SUPPLY (ON MODELS UP TO DEC 2000)
3.REMOTE CONTROL RECIEVER AND CONTROL UNIT SUPPLY
4. CAR PHONE POWER SUPPLY / TESTER OUTPUT.

May be worth a try removing the connector blocks at the rear of fuse box
cleaning and refitting. The manual shows they are removable. Can t find no relay for dials???? must be one?
Running out of ideas , could be bad earth?
The fuse i mentioned is 20 amp (but i think it feeds the alarm)after looking further
sorry not much help
let us know how you get on

hiya mate thanks for finding that out and posting it for me.Ill take the fuse out of no.10 and replace with a new 1..(even tho its not blown but ya never know) if still no good ill disconnect the plugs from the fuses and reconnect.and even try disconnecting the earth on the battery as someone mentioned in the link.and try removing fuse 12..for some reason that worked for him lol

ive got a mate going to a scrappy this weekend where there are a few mareas in and he getting me a pipe and also he gona check to see if the clocks work and if they do he gona get them me.that way i know if my clocks have blown or not.

My instrument panel went tits on me today, I've lost everything - dials indication lamps answel as indicators and brake lights, its not a fuse problem and I'm stumped. I've got the battery disconnected at the minute to see if that works (fingers crossed).

ya jokin, you lost everythin, not good :( you sure you have no blown fuses seen as everythin has been lost? in my situation its just the dials.
would love to know what it is tho.

oh i was gonna disconnect my battery for half hour too to try reset it but when my batt went flat (with the old battery) it was flat for weeks so i didnt see the point tbh,i just put on a new battery last week

Well I just put the battery bac in and nowts changed, gonna have to get the dash out I reckon. not happy:cry:

FOLLOW EARTH FROM BATTERY TO INNER WING AND CHECK NOT CORRODED. jUST A THOUGHT!
still seems to me like bad connection either at fuse box end or behind instrument cluster

you watch after all this theres a bad earth problem..or the fact my clcoks have just died on me!
ill check the earth points on friday next time im free, give them bit of a clean and reattach.I got the guide somewhere on ma comp.

cant see it bein bad connection on the clocks end as they have never ben out before so i wouldnt say they were lose.also i had them out other day and they are in as tight as they go.

Right,i just been out and again dismantled the clocks.i seperated the actual chipboard for the unit and gave the connectors all a clean, then put the plugs back on switched ign on and still nothing :( I had a look for the earth leads but couldnt find them.I took out the service fuse a few times whilst the ignition was on hoping it may flicker on and still the dials didnt work..really am puzzled
