Hey,

I've just returned to Marea ownership as my Tempra gets wheeled off to the scrap yard....a naturally I have a few issues with my new Fiat...

LATE 2001 2.0 20v 155 HLX

1)
In very heavy traffic the temperature will shoot up to the first bit of red on the gauge, it's instant not gradual and I've noticed this only happens when the fan kicks in. The temperature will then return to normal as soon as the fan cuts out!!! It doesn't seem to be overheating, have some wires got crossed somewhere?!

2)
The car sometimes cuts out shortly after starting the engine when it's hot...it doesn't some rough runs verrry smooth

3)
Electrics sometimes go crazy, the problem seems to be centred round interior cooling system, sometimes the blowers wont switch off and blow irratically (the airbag light also flickers!) is all a bit poltergeist! It seems to be a loose connection...where could that be?

4)
Finally what's the recommended cambelt change for a 20v? Mine was last done 2 years/30k ago, please say I can give it a bit longer before the engine has to come out!

Cheers!

hi Welcome back
Just a thought ...firstly check the multiplug in the passenger footwell is pushed together properly before you persue any further cos this reminds me of a simular post last year
Cam belt is 5years or 70thou (double check) on the 20valve which ever comes first
Also to change the cam belt the engine dosn't have to come out. theres a thread on the forum with all diagrams and tips on "how to change cam belt"
hope tis helps.

Hope this helps.

1) Check the rad' cap on the expansion tank. Had same prob with mine and turned out the cap was nackered and not holding pressure.

2)There is a sensor, I believe it's crank sensor that can cause this prob, not entirely sufe. Try a forum search but it appears to up every now and then.

3)Probably got a faulty fan switch mine does the same, got a mind of its own, bet you got Auto Climate Control?

4)Reccomended is 72k but I do mine every 2/3 years, done for abour £300/£400 'ish nowadays.

Good luck

P.S. you need to give your car a good rag every once in a blue moon to make sure the VIS system doesn't seize up.
