Hello all,it is unfortunate that i have had to join this forum for the wrong reasons,my Fiat Marea weekend (2000) 1.8 16v, is running like POOO!
Its only started doing it today!
It feels like it is misfiring on idle,and wont accelerate properly,but kicks in now and again,otherwise it just chugs!!!!
I had an oil and filter change at kwik fit 2 days ago if that helps!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Dave,yes,it was exactly that!phew!thought i was looking at big problems
Looks like they havn't been changed......ever!

Think i better get onto the cam belt too,how much can i expect to pay for it to be changed by a garage?
I was quoted £252 by Kwik fit?

Try a few quotes cos with the 1800 engine you dont have to move the engine about to change the cam belt like you would with the 2litre engine.
And this needs Quoting by yourself if someone trys to tell you different.
A dayco timing belt costs around 18quid but would advise changing the coolant pump at same time plus tension pulleys. Ask quick fit fit if they change all the above for their price first. Then try a local garage too compare the difference.
print this off if you can so you have info by the phone when you ring around.

I also have 2000 marea 1.8 same symptons as above changed plugs still same,starts first time,but starts chuggin intermittant power.what should the sprk plug gap be

The spark plug gap is 0.8mm.Also try check ignition coils are ok. Simple check if you remove one coil at a time until you find the one that is faulty.
