Hello.

Just wondering what sort of miles can be expected out of a JTD?

My JTD105 Marea is showing 138,000 and still uses no oil.

It's never been more than 8k without an oil and filter change and always with semi-synthetic 10w40 .

I'm replacing the head on my mates JTD105 because the cambelt snapped. Bloody shame. Looking inside I can't believe this 145,000 mile head's condition. Amazingly clean, and the shims and cam lobes look incredibly un-worn.

Please report your high mileages, anything under 100k not worth mentioning...(y)

I bet these engines can go over 300k....

My JTD130 Marea weekend is currently running at 156k
Engine goes great but a bit noisey!

My 110 JTD Weekend passed 100k today and is as smooth as they come. Uses no oil and power is there when you need it.

154,000m JTD110; 54 mpg; zero oil consumption; massive power especially since blocking off EGR valve and using a MAF sensor from a multijet!

Hello.

Where can I get a multijet MAF sensor - I mean which multijet, they never made a Marea badged as such. Do you mean a Stilo?

Also, are there any detrimental effects from blocking off the EGR valve? Did you just use a blanking plate? Please describe..

Cheers,

Lee.

I used a multijet MAF sensor from an Alfa 1.9 jtd; EGR blanked off (inlet manifold side)with a piece of stainless steel from an old kitchen sink; took the opportunity to clean out the throat of manifold as it was partially blocked by soot; leave the EGR connected electrically; all the EGR does is reduce nitrous oxide emissions slightly (at the expense of a less efficient engine and thus an increase in CO2 emissions), these are not relevant in UK (not tested at MOT) as millions of tons of nitrous oxide are created annually by lightning and are washed to the ground by rain as nitrates; more nitrates are then added by our heavily subsidised farmers.....
