cambelt change

Hi guys just a bit of advice my 99 marea weekend 2.4jtd hlx 130 has 111000 on the clock my brother had the cambelt changed 72000.

Is it best to have the water pump,fan belt and cambelt all done together

and does anyone know any garages in Reading or Berkshire who can do a service and cambelt at resonable price i know a garage in sunderland where iam from but dont fancy doing a 700miles trip

This should show you palmer and Philips in Cowley. Highly recommended. They will only change the water pump if it show signs of leaking unless you insist.

The reading price doesnt sound too bad to me . Its a difficult job on the jtd (I think because the engine has to be dropped) and could take the best part of a day to do. I know a Fiat independent man in Evesham but thats a few stops further up the line from Oxford.

Engine dosent have to be dropped on the JTD theres plenty of room to get in to change it.

buy all accounts its a 2.5 hrs work just wondering what is the actual cambelt change intervils my brother had the belt changed at 72000 5 and a bit years ago and its done 111000

I thought the 5 pot diesel was a pig to do and indeed the engine has to come out per fiat although there should be a sticky on here about it. It involves a hacksaw

With the older 5TD 2.4 you can get in there to change it, my dad has his done last year for £220 all in, that price doesn't sound to bad if it including parts.

If the cam belt is 5 years or older it needs changing
