Posts: 6 Thanks: 0 Trader Rating: 0 | Hi everyone new here and need help. my marea r reg 2.4TD weekend after changing the timing belt last week will not run properly SOMETIMES. i have to crank it over a couple of times and give it full throttle then it starts but runs like c**p i have to hold it above 1500 rpm for a couple of Min's and boy it smokes then it clears and idles fine for a couple of Min's then starts to stall smoke and misfire then ether cuts out or idles fine so rechecked timing all fine so road test drove great for 30+ miles then i had to stop as soon as the engine went to idle it cut out so the dreaded starting process with all the above symptoms there is diesel flowing to the pump and i have changed the filter

When the timimng belt was done there is a sensor what might have been disturbed could be the crank sensor. Im sure someone will come along and either confirm what Ive said or say Ive told you a load of sh*t lol.

Does the engine management light stay on when driving? let us know how you get on mate. Dave. ( hey Johnson 550 not a load a s@"T mate lol, anything is possible.Might even be the crank sensor its all linked to the management and timing system."elimination process")

If it was a faulty sensor I doubt the car would start at all.If you have not done any other work besides timing belt I would hazzard a guess its slightly out and worth a re-re visit. Management is trying to rectify and if you continue to drive the car it may do permenant expensive damage Hope this helps dave

1. Check for air in the diesel. Replace the last leak off pipe with a bit of clear windscreen washer tubing & check for bubbles in the return. If you find many, then use some 8-10mm clear tubing via filter & pump. If any there you'll need to check joints from filter back to tank. 2. Blank off the EGR valve with a bit of beer can & see if that makes a difference. 3. Pull the plug off the MAF & see if that makes a difference 4. Check all inlet air hoses for splits 5. Check the stop solenoid on the pump is OK - try a separate 12v feed to it direct from the battery for a test run.

Posts: 6 Thanks: 0 Trader Rating: 0 | Re: marea 2.4 td running problems pls help hi all i think i found the problem the needle lift sensor on No inject kept it a 2000 rpm then disconnect the nls and exact the same problems reconnected and fine at RPM read up on this and the engine relies on the nls more on idle so if slightly faulty it will not idle anybody know if the whole injector needs changing or you can change the needle lift sensor.cheers

Posts: 6 Thanks: 0 Trader Rating: 0 | Re: marea 2.4 td running problems pls help well after changing the needle lift sensor and water temp sensor still the problem goes on hard to start. on a run lovely drive but coming in to a junction unless you coast to a stop and blip the throttle and ease off slowly it will stall and smoke and try and recover itself this car has cost me an arm and a leg so if theres nothing more i can do i think its time for the disk cutter and sell as spares
