When the ECU log an error 3 times the light remains ON until
you turn Off the ignition.
If the light doesn't go OFF after a few seconds after starting the car
there's a permanent error on the ABS system that needs fixing.

You can get a diagnostic check at a garage, to check if one of
your sensors are faulty.
If you got the Lucas ABS box the fault is most likely worn out
relay contacts (pump relay), it's a common problem.
There's a overhaul guide in the guide section.

I Have just joined the forum looking for advice on this ABS problem,
