Morning all,
Your help would be much appreciated. I've been trying, with no success, to perform an ECU diagnostics using a Snap-On Ethos scanner on my 1998 R Marea 2.4TD125. I've connected to 4 different sockets on the wiring loom;

Position 1 - on front offside suspension turret
Position 2 - above ABS unit
Position 3 - adjacent to air filter system
Position 4 - behind glove box

Each time a "no power from vehicle" followed by "communication failure" message occurs. Ignition is switched on and the correct comms leads are connected to the scanner, according to the scanner instructions.

Can someone advise what's wrong here please? Is the scanner incompatible or have I not found the correct socket yet? If the latter, where is it?

Many thanks,

Stuart

You've got the right plugs, i can only assume the reader is not compatible. Have you connected a 12V feed? Usually its three pin but one pin goes to the battery 12V or 12V source.

Hi Joske,
The cable supplied with the scanner contains 2 pins only. It has a seperate connection for the 12v supply. However, with the 12v supply connected, the key code symbol illuminates on the dash and the scanner fails to communicate again. I'm assuming the diagnostic port on the offside suspension turret is for the ECU?
