Got Marea 155 Weekend on "W" 2000 plate and looking to buy Code/Diagnostic reader.
Is my car OBD ? and where are the connections or sockets.
Also what should I buy and where to buy it from, money is tight so must be cheap or good value for money.

Many thanks peeps

Your car is compliant with obd2 The plug is just under the the panel below the steering wheel. It has a little cover that pulls off.

I have an obd usb interface diagnostic cable that connects to a laptop.

I am very reliably informed these work well.

£45 which is more than they were a month ago, might be cheaper elsewhere.

But it's one like this I have. Although mine was cheaper when I got it. Was only £20 delivered.

Venters had a good look today, can't find anything on drivers side, but found a connector under the dash on passenger side.
It has no cover on it and only has 3 wires going to it ?
There's 2 similar connectors on the fuse box on the passenger side bulkhead are these anything to do with it ?
I read somewhere that the port should be easily accesible, but not sure what I'm looking for.

Cheers...

Hi Notorious131.

The connector you have found is the diag connector for the airbag ECU (placed behind glove compartment).
The 2 similar connectors in the engine bay is for the ABS and engine ECU.
On my 1997 1.6 16V Marea the ABS connectors is placed on the fusebox just above the ABS pump/ecu.and the engine connector is placed at the absolute pressure switch box.
I don't know the precise location on your model.
I used UNISCAN 1.83 to connect to my ecu's (good on most european and asian pre-odb cars).
But unlucky i steped on the interface box and damaged it:(

Cheers
Michael

If you follow down from the fuse cover on the drivers side you will come to some of that felt stuff and theres a peice cutout for the plug to go into the socket. That felt stuff will come off by taking the nut off just up where your right foot would be then pull it away from you then you will get a good geek at the socket.

This is mine.

i am having a 2000 JTD105 but i can't find the OBD II as like yours. it is std for all JTD? i have a Scangauge II and would like to hook it up if possible...

cheers.

hi johnson,

i tried again just now and really can't find the OBD socket which suppose to be mount just below the fuses holder. the felt u were talking about has no cut-out for my ride. is your ride is a RHD or LHD? any difference in location?

could it be on the passanger side hiding somewhere behind glove box? :bang::(
