Hi all , i know im not supposed to post this here but iv had no joy in the security section , my alarms been isolated by the circular key hidden in the fuseboard near where the drivers right knee goes , the previous owner hasnt got the key, If anyone can help - how can i bypass the keyswitch so i can get the alarm turned on - then all i have to do is sync the car alarm with the key fob and hey presto!! , many thanks guys.

Model specific alarm questions are better off in the car sections IMO :)

i know of the switch you refer to however its never been fitted on either of the Marea's i have owned, i've been lead to believe that it is operated by the ignition key, but i assume this isnt the case?

how many wires are going into the switch? and if possible can you tell the colours?

if you can provide this i may be able to find it on the wiring diagrams atleast to see how to override it.

Thanks,
Ry

Many Thanks Bulldog5046 , il double check and il repost in the security section tomorrow-sat

This sounds like an aftermarket alarm system which often have a keyswitch to turn them off, especially with a self powered siren. If you can open the box to access the back of the switch you can have a look at how many wires are on it. if it is just two then the switch either makes or breaks a circuit. In that case you would need to remove one of the wires then check for continuity between the contacts, if it is an open circuit then the switch is almost certainly a simple on/off and you can try connecting the wires (if it works the other way the act of removing the wire would reactivate the alarm). If there are more than two wires you will need a circuit diagram to work out which are connected/disconnected when the switch is operated. The only other option is to operate the switch and test for connectivity between the contacts which you cannot do. Good luck.

I dont think Ill be much help but just wanted to say mine has the keyhole in the fuse compartment ( I have the key) and its a Meta alarm. Maybe there might be a number on the keyhole to get a new key. Abacus alarms seem to be a main dealer in Meta alarms maybe they will be able to help.
