Hi all, need to replace seat belt for the MOT on my Marea. Can any one give me some advice on its removal, is it safe for me to disconnect the 12 volt cable (not sure what its called but the belt has a module attached, which i believe makes the seat belt tighten up when in an accident:eek:) to the seat belt. Hi not sure which belt, but its fitted to a 1997 1.9 d weekend est. The belt has on top, a alloy tube approx 6 ins long fitted with i assume a 12volt supply. Hope that helps.

Opps sorry, its the drivers seat belt and the problem is that when trying to pull the belt out it keeps stopping it takes at least four attempts to locate it in its holder. Ian

make sure you disconnect batery before you disconnect the pretensioner. in most cases you will be ok as long as you do not switch ignitionon with it disconencted, but to prevent airbag system faults it is ebst to disconnect battery and wait 15mins before you disconnect the pretensioner.

seatbelt removal is easy enough, but the bolts require a fairly large torx bit. a torx key usually wont be enough to loosen them so a ratchet is needed.
