Does anybody know where I can get my remote key repaired (the blue one)?
The micro switch that activates the remote, it's under the button, is broken and a new one needs to be soldered in. The alternative is a new key from Fiat at £125!

yeah it really is a very easy DIY job, all you really need to do is hold the sitch in position then touch each of the 4 contaqct point with a hot soldering iron for a few secs on each contact.

Beware great care and skill is required when soldering delicate electronic circuitry. Would you venture solder your computer mother board!? A battery contact on one of my remote key controls sheared off. In soldering it back into place, it seems the heat destroyed one or more components. Result: I now need to buy another remote or just the circuit board.

Hi Marea Mad, I'm a reasonable handyman, but could you please enlighten me as to what a "mig" welder is. The trouble with soldering light, delicate electronic components is that you need 3 hands or more; one to hold the iron steady, the other to smelt the solder onto the tip, and then the other and a third to hold the iron while securing the 2 pieces in place. I've never found suitable clamps for holding for what are essentially fragile gossamer butterfly wings. Maybe I should've done that City & Guilds course in my youth.

The solder job on a key microswitch is not the easiest bit of soldering in the world but patience and a steady hand are enough to get the job done.

Mig welding vvvv ;)

if you dont have great care and skill then you can instead use a smaller soldering iron, one designed for soldering on printed circuit boards. then you cant do any damage.

yes, several times. :)

I managed to fix mine with some superglue and foil off a kit kat, but now they've changed to those new wrappers you might have to raid the bacofoil. Good luck.
