Question Maybe getting a Marea, what probs should i look out for?

I currently own a 1997 cinq sporting, but maybe changing it for a 1999 fiat marea 1.6 at the weekend, (as due to a change in circumstance i need a bigger car), is there any problem areas to look for?, she did mention that the exterior door handles are weathered a bit!! is this normal?

Check EVERYTHING electrical! My car has been great but the one my son in law had was very Italian in that department.

I would agree - check every thing electrical but don't assume 'cos something doesn't work one day, it might the next! Just make sure you pay peanuts for it as they are worth NOTHING! I've had my weekend for two years and it has been great but needs money throwing at it regularly! Try buy spares in a scrapyard 'cos there's plenty available. And check the cambelt has been changed at around 70k miles because it will cost you £200 at a dealer who has the special tools to do it! Exhausts can be bought for a fraction of garage prices from a german firm called Eternalcar who will supply a full system from cat for £61 incl 2 day delivery(highly recommended) via ebay. Hope this helps.
