The bloke I got my Marea off has changed the headlight bulbs to these high power blue looking things, he has also put in blue side lights. My question is When you put the side light on with the ignition on are the headlight supposed to come on at reduced power (dim dip) because mine are not, there is also an orange light on the dash with a symbol of a bulb that comes on when the lights are on, bulb failure I'm guessing, but I have no bulbs out. Ther is a small silver box fitted to the inside of the off side wing that is connected to that headlight, should that be there? Some off the connections look factory made but 1 is a home crimped spade connector and 1 is a scotch lock thing, has he for some reason bypassed the dim dip system?

regarding the silver box, im going to hazard a guess that the previous owner has fitted HID's

HID's

Here are some pictures of the box and the wiring(highlighted). Can I get the Dim dip to work, with these lights fitted or can I get the bulb out warning light to stop showing.

I agree the lights are brill, but can I get the dim dip bit to work or failing that disable the bulb out warning light.

After doing a bit of research on these HID Xenon systems I'm a little concerned about replacement bulb prices. Can anyone tell me how to return the lighting system back to normal. I don't know whether to do this or not :(

OK I defiantly want to convert back to normal lights as I have just found out that aftermarket HID kit are regarded as illegal.

I'm just wondering if I'm being to paranoid:rolleyes:

Main thing is no dim dip system and that annoying orange warning light saying that a bulb is out. Also worried about the price of replacement parts in a HID system. don't know what to do for the best.
