My 1999 Weekend wouldn't start this afternoon. It has done this before a couple of times, but once it's been left for a few minutes it always starts.

Today it wouldn't. The fuel pump is running when the ignition is turned on, and the engine turns over ok. The problem is that it has no spark.

Is there a common cause of this (ecu, coil etc.)?

there are 2 sensors for the spark, the common one is the TDC/Crank sensor, however commonly these fail when hot and then the car is fine, have you experienced this?

second is the camshaft sensor, these dont fail so often but still....

It's pretty much a random thing. It has done it when it's warm, but then again it's done it first thing in the morning too.
