Deffo the NS wheel bearing. I wouldn't worry to much yet. Mines had a very faint whine on roundabouts for about 2 years and has passed 2 MOTs in that time.

I had wheel bearing go once on an Opel Rekord, it was noisy cold and after a few miles quietened down. Apparently this is a clue to the problem, oh plus the noise is at road speed (ie not at engine speed) and is still there if you put the car in neutral and coast, this rules out 75% of the transmission.

Tried your local Motor Factor? Its prolly ex stock and about £40. I fyou leave it too long it will sieze to the drive shaft and you will have to change that as well. Never had to do one, what torque do they tighten to?

no idae of torque setting but looks like i'll need to borrow another torque wrench.

might just be coincidence but its on the same corner as the guy crashed into me, could it be related and put on insurance?
Not impossible, someone reversed out of their driveway at high speed once and clouted the side of my car (to calibrate this it was a Mk I Ford Consul so a long time ago). I can still remember the a-hole trying to tell me it was old damage on my car. Anyway he paid to get it fixed after having the health benefits pointed out but even though the car came out as being true on a jig it never ran as smoothly again.
Oh, and I have a couple of torque wrenches 5-20 and 20 - 120 lb feet (in old money) but I think I'm too far away to be useful.

From the Bravo/Brava manual (which only covers up to 1.8l cars.)
Front hub/driveshaft NM/lb ft 240/177
rear hub 280/207

Wow thats tight!

Have you tried turning the radio up? If it's on full volume & you can still hear it, I would suggest upgrading your ICE

got a wering/humming noise comming from the passenger side of the car when i steer hard to the right.

i have no idea myself what it could be, anyone know? wheel bearing?
That can happen after having run over a curb at an ungentle speed - it comes from the cylinder of the power steering. Have the AA look into it and order the parts while you are not in a hurry yet!

I think this was ryans first Marea, it was written off then he bought another and turboed it then he got a third for a runabout for a few months while doing the turbo conversion. over 5 years since he got rid of this car. :p
