Re: Honest Opinions Please.

very nice

how did you split the sealant on the lights? in the past i used a bit of heat and a big flatblade screwdriver and although i got the lense off it was chipped to bits and a mess by the time i'd finished. surely there's an easier way?

have you had any problems with heat making the paint peel inside the lights?

Re: Honest Opinions Please.

Well it was a hot day don't know if that helped with the sealant. Ran a sharp blade round the inside of the join, then just slowly pried the glass front the casing with a couple biggish flat screwdrivers. Only 1 small chip on 1 piece of glass where i started. So far the heat from the lights hasn't been a problem although I've hardly use the lights right now, Winter will be the test!

Nearly forgot I used gutter sealant to put them back together. Din't want to use silicone sealant incase i need to repaint sometime, would surely ruin the glass.

nice job. really stands out on red car. probably not worth doing on a dark colour though.

Re: Honest Opinions Please.

nice touch but when you reseal things like that its best to use RTV sealant as the heat from the bulb's will melt the silicone where as RTV has a heat resistant's up to 500c. gutter sealant is for exactly that gutters not car parts where as RTV is for cars glass, engine's ect any where there's heat.

Re: Honest Opinions Please.

Thanks for the tips, but the sealent I used is holding up so far. Paint is still fine aswell. bulbs are ressesed into the "chassis" of the headlight not much heat gets to the glass or painted parts.
