thats not true, you can have 215/40/17 without any work, you can also have 205/35/18...and theres that guy with 19's! no idea what he had to do to get them on though. have also been told you can go out to 225/40/17 but yet to confirm that.

Re: Rim issue

225/45/R17 's just catch the inner lining on full lock , but ok on the straight and normal bends , so 1 reckon 225/40/R17 's should just be ok .

Re: Rim issue

yes you can, but you will need 'wobbly bolts' or 'conversion bolts' same thing different name

sorry, i only put 205/40/R17 as the maximum because i assumed you would be lowering the car. in my head ALL cars should be lowered

Re: Rim issue

hi there,

i do agree that 40mm thick is the limit. just recently changed mine to 205/45/17 without asking around. it's not suitable. it touches the rear fender and ate the rubber.

one quick question though, if i were to change it to 205/40/17, will the same thing happen? do i have to do any mod to make them fit nicely?

No, 205/40/17 will fit the marea without any issue, it gives the same rolling radius as the standard 15" rims but gives a little more width, the car tramlines more but i wouldn't say it was unacceptable. i am currently using 215/40/17 with no issues. John

Re: Rim issue

7.5 rim width will be the max you can go, but plenty of choices available with 7j and 7.5j

I have 205/45/17 on my Weekend, and have no issues
