Hi,
I've the standard FiaT Linea 2009, 1400 CC, 77 horse power, a strange scratching sound starts to appear recently only after turning on the engine at the morning or after parking the car for 6 hours or so specially in winter where the weather is always cold, the sound lasts for 2 seconds or so then disappear and the car operates smoothly, also the sound disappears if i turned off the engine and turned it on again at the morning,....i met some people who owns other type of fiat cars and faced the same problem but i couln'd contact them again to know if they managed to solve it or not...i want to get any information before i go to the service center as i'm ecpecting that they will say everything is normal (because the car is still under the warranty period and of course they will make their best to NOT replace anything beyound the normal maintenance parts for free)..any ideas ???????

If it's only started recently then it's possibly a cold weather / oil / lube issue. My engine has a slight bearing squeak which quietens after a while (depending on how cold the temps are) so I use this as a guide to setting off, generally takes about 30 seconds.
I'm currently driving a Renault bus, if you don't let the engine warm up for a minute or two, it's near impossible to change gear (and the clutch is fine).
Still might be worth a mention though - just in case.

Which grade oil do you use. 5w-40 is the recommended grade.
Hydraulic tappets might be culprit, they makes some noise in the mornings until they are lubricated by engine oil.
