Yes, but Nigel, when are you going to offer this service on the 1.6 Stilo?

With the 1.6 being the best selling unit I thought you'd try to offer something for this market, I'll have it done if you do!

My thoughts exactly, you have the same unit in your car Steve, it simply has to be the most popular variant that FIATs are sold in so why doesn't anyone tune them?

One question, you do either 155 or 175 for the bravo 1.9, but only the 155 for Stilo 1.9, is it less tuneable, or have you just not got round to doing the 175 for the Stilo? Just wondering;)

I bet it can Steve!

130 BHP from a 16v Twincam engine should be easy!

Yes I can - dont even go there! Its the worst engine that Fiat have brought out for a long time - sorry! Its totally untunable, there are no modifications for it under a grand (I mean REAL modifications) and we cannot do anything with it. The ECU is from the Tipo and you cannot even open it to put a chip in.

A 175bhp Stilo, yes we can do that, it will cost roughly £475 and we would need to develop it for you, its not something you could have today - in fact that may be the case on all the Stilo modifications today. Its not painfull, it just means we take a copy of your map today and meet you a week later to load it on. We are in Manchester and Norwich next weekend if it helps.

Sorry Nige, much as I'd love to have my Stilo Remapped, finances wouldn't allow for sometime, and also my insurance co wouldn't entertain it. I would definitely like to in the future tho! Maybe by then you can get 200bhp:D

Nige, going back to the 1.6, I know you hate it and say it's totally untuneable, but surely with so many sold, someone must have come up with a reasonable way of extracting a few more BHP.

If you say that it is totally out of the question, I'll torch it, no, only joking, but is there any little changes I can make to get it going a bit, like a K & N Induction Kit and an Exhaust?

I know there is more under the bonnet than is currently there, FIAT engines are pretty good so there just has to be more power in this 1.6 unit, I can't go on struggling to keep up with 1.1, 1.2 and 1.4 boy racers, it's embarrassing!:I

Is the 1.8 any more tuneable, or even the new 1.4[?]

Nige knows his stuff, but can he tune a 1.6?:p

Nope sorry guys. That 1.6 engine is almost untouchable without spending £1000! You need an aftermarket Marelli ECU which is some £700+ then we can start talking about mapping the performance. The trouble is that you start with a blank ECU whithout a map on it so we have to get the car started first!! Its about 2 days on a rolling road.

You cannot break that ECU open safely either, which is why you dont see even the old style chips for them. Beleive me we have looked long and hard into this as we could have made a fortune on these as well as the 1.8 which is just as bad!

Dont forget that these engines are getting a bit long in the tooth now having been designed in the early 90's so the ECU's are not that friendly to people like us!

I can probably get you some C&B camshafts....

Thanks for your answer Nige, I'm pissed off about it really as these engines should be pumping out more that 103BHP, I can fart harder than that!

So, will the K & N and Exhaust help it a little?

Yeah it will a small amount of course, the same as any other engine. I realy wish I could do something as I have a list of potential customers!
