The best new Fiat..

Maybe I'm biased and it definitely depends on what somebody wants from a car, but I truly believe Doblo is not only great "bang for the buck", but also a good shot at the title for the best new Fiat.

Having put 27k kilometers in about 10 months on a Doblo T-Jet after a history of owning loads of great cars (including 2 Saab 900 Classics, 2 RWD "brick" and 1 Ford-era Volvo, a classic Mini...) and test-driven even more, I think I can judge how it performs quite objectively.

I dare to say the 120hp T-Jet is plenty quick for normal traffic and isn't slower to pull away from the green light than most commuters, but a 150-180hp engine option would be perfect (luckily both the T-Jet as the stronger diesels have some tuning potential.
The real surprise however is the handling.... It definitely beats its competition, but with a set of good tyres (I run Vredestein Quatrac 5 215/55/16) it beats a lot of regular cars as well!

Unfortunately making a large and high vehicle like the Doblo handle as well as it does is at cost of the ride comfort. While no boneshaker, the suspension is definitely harder than that of cars that don't pack so much weight and a high center of gravity to throw around corners tightly.
While my Volvo V70 (ca. the same weight as my Doblo but much lower) was still very comfortable to me on 235/35/19 tyres inflated to 3.2bar and springs of the R-version, I'm sure 235/45/17 will be the lowest profile tyre I'd want on the Doblo.

I haven't test driven the Tipo range yet, the station wagon version would've made my choice a lot harder if it were already launched when I bought my Doblo, it's an Alfa Romeo 159 mini-me!

If I had to pick I would go for the abarth 124 spider, although completely impractical.

If it was practicality then I would go for the 500x 2litre Diesel with the 9 speed auto and 4wd

Although I I were in the market for a midi-SUV like the 500x I'd go and look at the new countryman, Mercedes GLA or even the Nissan Qashqai several people I work with have either Qashqai, IX35 or Kia Sportage and they give a hell of a lot for the money
