Hello and welcome all .can anyone help I have a grand punto and first start on a morning have to turn it over a lot before it will start .also giving it lots of of on off for glow plug light to go out.once started fires up fine all day.many thanks.

Hi, Suggest you disconnect glow plugs and check the resistance of each one to earth with a multi meter on the resistance range . I don't know what the resistance is , but I would think it's only a matter of ohms . Perhaps someone else can tell you actual value to expect.

thanks davy replaced 2 of the glow plugs I can get to but no better

What is resistance of the glow plugs you changed ? for future reference.. or were they open circuit?

Hi, Can you disconnect the wiring and check the resistance of the other two? I used to have a problem starting on one of my Fiats but it usually started after 3 tries on cold mornings . Perhaps the timer's cutting off too soon. Sorry can't help further.

hi davy Yes it fires after 3 tries what was your problem .

I never really thought it was a problem, so I just put up with it. As the days got warmer the starting got easier. it was one of those things ; in the summer there was no problem, in the winter it was too cold to bother looking at it.
