Hello all, I am a new Fiat 500 driver and new to this forum,
Have many questions ref the little car -
First one is the Fiat 500 and oil (I shall as otherquestions in other threads)
What is the best oil to use when topping up?
I have read Petronis is what Fiat use.
Also, ive heard that it is better to check oil levels afterstarting car for 5 mins then shutting it down again – apparently this gives amore accurate reading of the level as opposed to checking first thing in themorning when the care has been standing over night…..
When the oil is ready to be topped up will an ‘oil’ signappear on the dashboard?
It would be great if anyone who drives a Fiat500 knowsanswers to the above…..

What grade of oil depends on what engine you have. What brand you use is a matter of preference, personally I'm happy using the cheapest stuff I can find (ie. Asda) as I tend to do oil and filter changes every 6 months.

The only light you'll get on the dash is if the oil pressure is low, rather than the oil level. Like the coolant, the oil level shouldn't really decrease unless there's something wrong so you shouldn't need to top it up.
