I am wanting to take the engine from my 1995 fiat punto, a TD60s and put it in another car or van which is not falling to bits with rust. Does anybody know which fiat models can accomadate this engine.

Thanks

Nick

Is this the 1.7 diesel?

You'd need to go for another mk1 punto ideally it's a case of what this engine has been fitted to before, compatibility of gearbox and drive shaft fitment, and simplicity.
The cost of a donor car is likely to be around £600-800 for something without rust issues then the costs a associated with an engine swap could add another couple of hundred

If it's a case of wanting to keep a cheap economical engine then for the money it may be time to look for an early mk2 punto with the 1.9 Diesel engine which can be picked up cheaply for a similar price as a good mk1

For around £1500 you can get a mk2b 1.3 multijet diesel which is about the most efficient engine fiat have ever made and the tax is only £30 a year, insurance on this car is exceedingly cheap too and 70hp
