Hi I was wondering of anyone could help me on this matter. Earlier in the week my fiat punto 1.2 8v head gasket went so I decided to.think about buying another engine for it. I've found one with 62k miles 1.2 8v however it has cam sensors, im not sure if mine does? If mine hasn't will it still fit?

just make sure its from a mk2 not a mk2b and everything will be fine
just ignore the cam sensor on top of the engine when you plug all your loom bits in
remember to put your ecu on the new engine and use your cat as later engines had two lambdas too

if it is a mk2b engine you would need to swap inlet manifolds over so the map connector will plug straight in

make sure we are talking mk2 punto with electric steering mind not a late mk1?

AFIK It'll involve a fair bit of additional work..(wiring, etc)

why not just do the HeadGasket yourself,
@£50 in parts, and a nice sunny weekend ahead..

or has your engine reached it's life expectancy..?? Charlie

Crazy to replace engine for headgasket.

But do find out why the HG went: they seldom go by themselves, generally a symptom of something else.

Alright guys thanks for the replies, im changing the engine over as we took it all apart to find the head gasket had blown and the engine in there has 90k miles on it. It was just as cheap to buy another engine which came with inlet, all plugs, leads and had only 62k miles on.

Another good thing was my sumps corroded and this new ones in good nick

are you doing the cambelt + waterpump - while it's out

I did plan on it yes, I know I should with cambelt however the clutch seemed fine so might see what condition it's in first
