One of the debuts everyone has been anxiously awaiting for has been leaked,
ninja2.gif
with the all-new 2013 Dodge Dart hitting the interwebs ahead of its official 2012 Detroit Auto Show debut.

The first Chrysler product to be based on a Fiat architecture, the 2013 Dodge Dart looks sporty, contemporary and honestly, very refreshing to see. Essentially a replacement from the now defunct Caliber, the Dart looks to be in an entirely different league than what it’s replacing. The vehicle itself is based on the Alfa Romeo’s Giulietta platform and once it hits American soil it’ll be available with three different four-cylinder engines.

A 2.0L packs 160-hp while a 2.4L will have 184-hp. A 1.4L turbocharged powerplant that is also seen in the Abarth 500 will feature 160-hp. The front-wheel-drive compact will feature Fiat Group’s six-speed, dual-clutch transmission with a six-speed manual option but ultimately will get an all-new nine-speed transmission that is currently being developed by the ZF Group.

The front is very striking. When you you run your eyes across the side then come to the hood its like Bang! not particularly classy looking but mean.

I looked at it and straight away thought Mitsubishi Lancer/EVO.

Well it's in the same American class as our Grande Puntos and Vauxhall Corsas. It's never going to be ground breaking. What is out dated to us is still in fashion for them hence why Ford have 2 different franchises. They still think the Ford focus is cutting edge design lol.

The front seems to be attempting to out-Golf the Golf and from the windscreen back has echoes of the old Chrysler Neon as dave has pointed out. There's another FIAT/Chrysler product that is available in Italy but not here (yet) is the FIAT Freemont.....or is that FIAT Fairmont. Anyway, we know it as the Dodge Caravan a large pseudo 4X4/estate car/crossover thingy. I believe that in Europe it will have the 1.9 or 2.0 litre turbodiesel but I think up to now as a Chrysler it's had a Benz engine.

There’s some vid clips appearing on youtube that give a better view than the 2 o’clock (or 10 o’clock) still pics – the rear reminds me of some other model Citroen? Toyota?

It’s argued FIAT have 35 new (or redesigned) models coming-out in the next 3 years.

There was a time when FIAT designs & redesigns came-out in predictable 6 year intervals e.g. Tipo 1988-95, Brava/Bravo 1995-2001, Stilo 2001-07, Bravo 2007 - & Punto 1993, 1999, 2005.
