can someone please help with a problem im currently having.

i have a fiat punto that is making a grinding and knocking noise.

when i start the car is sounds fine but after driving for 15 minutes or so it starts making a banging noise from passenger side and a grinding noise when turning. also when going over bumps it makes a knocking noise. it seems to get louder the longer i drive.

another problem i found is once i drive for an over and hour the car starts to judder when taking of and i really have to rev it to move smoothly.

i have taken it to 2 garages but because i havent driven it for long it seems fine and they say it ok. it also passed mot 2 days ago which i didnt thing was possible but good news.

anyway, before i drive an hour to my brothers garage, i wanted to see if anyone had a similar problem or does anyone have an idea of what it could be so i can tell him what problem is.

Exhaust pipe hanger can bang on the floor or the rear axle. Mine has two x 10mm hose clips on the hanger rods to stop it sliding too far across.

If its juddering on clutch take-up you have oil contamination. Most likely the gearbox input shaft bearing has failed (they do that sir). If there is gear oil under the clutch housing you need a new clutch and a new bearing and seal in the gearbox.

£120 labour for the clutch plus parts and probably same again for gearbox (though its not a hard job and bearing is very cheap). "Mr Wild" has put instructions in the Guides section.
