any help apreciated

TBH its doubtful because everyone uses similar size wheels, but 6 gears would be nice. However, overall taller gearing may actually make fuel consumption worse.

You could fit 17" aftermarket wheels with thicker tyres to increase the rolling radius. But the car can look odd & it wont be low cost. and the fuel saving s will be minimal if any.

An ECU chip upgrade for £300 would be a good option to boost midrange torque.

I have had the car remapped and that is why i want the taller gearing/6 speed as the car now has lots of low down torque but on the motorway at 70 it's doing nearly 3000rpm and i know it would handle the same speed at 2000rpm

I used to have a Galaxy 1.9TDI-90 that I chipped to 110. Fuel consumption mpg went from about 32/33 to 37/38 as I was changing up sooner. About 50% of my driving was M-ways doing at least 70.
It was also about the same %age better when towing a twin axle caravan (19mpg to 22).

If the engine is turning too slowly the turbo will be less effective (unless its pulling hard) that will adversely affect the mpg. Dropping the revs might not do much good and it puts more stress on the pistons cylinders and crank.
