Hi All of you Experts,

Happy Easter to all of you.

I have a question for you.

I own a Fiat Grande Punto 2008 model here in Australia and noticed today that I can lift the rear window from the outside (on the base of the glass) with a finger on the left hand side by at least 1 centimetre. Is this normal?

I believe it should be locked down.

Also my rear demister (lunotto termico) does not work even thought the light is on on the switch.

What do you think?

Thanks and regards

Just want to give you an update on this.

Today I went to see my panel beater friend who removed the inside plastic cover of the rear door and discovered that the demister wire was totally disconnected, the glass clip was missing and there was masking tape around some of the cables (masking tape is not normally used in the manufacturing process he told me, must be a local job) as if the mechanics broke the glass at my last service and replaced it forgetting parts during the replacement process.

I know that the demister was working before my last service at the Fiat service centre.

I'd suspect that if the window had been broken you would be able to hear parts of the fragmented glass moving about when you raise & lower the tailgate. There have been numerous examples of water-ingress leaks on Grande Punto's due to poor sealing of either window or rear wiper spindles, if you have no glass bits floating around maybe your car was one of those with poor glass bonding & if the car was not new to you, a previous owner may have suffered the de-mister disconnection due to movement of the glass when being driven, found the problem but traded the car in? Just guessing really, personally I'd take the car back to where you bought it if it was a dealer & get them to make it good.
