Not sure on this plan, but im looking at it.

how easy is it to transfer body panels, like wings - from one car to another?

I'm after a new front bumper, both wings, both doors, bonnet and rear bumper. Any problems with transfering them panels off another car to mine?

I seem to remember RallyCinq saying replacing a front wing is a bitch of a job:confused:

poo. Hmmm. I'm pondering now. I can't really afford to do this, but its not often a car of the same age and colour is broken, and has decent body panels.

Might speak with a body shop, see what they reckon about doing it.

I had a feeling the wings would be a nasty job too, not sure why.. rallycinq may well have posted saying it was.

Bumpers and door is easy..but on most cars the wings are hard as theyre bonded and bolted into place!

Most car paint colours have different tints my old swift had 8 different tints all using the same colour code so you had to match it using swatches at the bodyshop, you might be lucky but you also could be buying panels that are a worse match than the ones you`ve got.

P.s don`t forget if your buying doors you will have to change locks and stuff.
You might have to bite the bullett and find a friendly bodyshop who would be willing to spray a side at a time to keep your costs down.

well i need at least one new door and wing anyway..

i think spraying a side at a time would be a bad idea, one side of paint newer than the other and surely it'd be cheaper to do both at the same time raher than one at a time?

Il ask around various places. I'm not sure what my car was sprayed in, but its not broom yellow - its more of a lemon yellow on most panels. Anyone whos seen it in the flesh will know what i mean! :(

Hi
Yeah it would be cheaper to do both sides but i was thinking of a way to ease the damage on your bank account. The freshness of the paint shouldn`t matter if it`s done by someone who knows there stuff my mate sprayed the rear quarter on my swift (which was a 14 year old car in red)and blended it in to the door, all the guys at work tried well hard to see the blend but nobody got any where near.
Cheers
Adrian
