Hi my key fob does not work i bought the car with it not working so i put a new battery in and still no luck? Anybody know how much it is for a fiat dealer to program it? Cheers

I'm just off the phone from the main dealer and it's £20 for the key, each, and anothet £70!!!!! for them to program it, £50 if you have the code card, although that's a 1 off even for multiple keys (best buy a couple if you're anything like me with keys). That's why i'm here to try and find a cheaper alternative. I'm not here to slag off dealers but that does seem like a lot of money for a tweak. Anyone have any views or news on alternatives.

That won't be the price for a remote key ;)

Didn't think Scudo's came with a remote key. I've a 54 1.9D do you happen to know if they came with remotes. If so any info on them? If i have to replace i'd spend a bit extra for the option. Someone did mention some do some dont but you may know different.

I started a similar topic in the Punto section as my Punto only has one key. My local Fiat dealer wanted £115 for a key which would only open the doors or £150 for one programmed to the immobilisor.

Thanks to help from this forum I've bought a blank key on eBay for £7 and when it arrives I'll get a key cutting firm to cut it which I imagine will cost £5 or there abouts. So that's £12 when Fiat wanted £115!

I could've bought a blank key on eBay with the chip which I could then get programmed but it's an extra expense I could do without. I'll cross that bridge if I need to. (y)

Hi Phil thanks for that. I was told though that as it's linked to the immobiliser it wont work without coding. I'm down to my last key also so a replacement would a stand-by. Have you got the key cut yet and does it work. Gotta be worth a try and thanks again. Pls let me know what happens next

Regards Steve

Just updated my topic in the Punto section.

Basically the blank key I bought from eBay for £7 was the wrong sort.
I went to another local locksmiths who took a key off the shelf, cut it and within a couple of minutes I had a key which now opens & locks my doors for a fiver!

Obviously it won't work with the ignition but I'll cross that bridge if I have to. All I wanted was a spare key that'll open the doors if I ever lock my keys in the boot - which I have done twice in the past. :D
