Hi,
I have just taken ownership of a 1 year old Bravo. It came with one key only and the dealer says this is normal for Fiat cars. Is this really the case?

I have tried asking Fiat directly and they say it depends if the original owner asked for two or not. Bearing in mind this is a top-spec'd Sport, I'd be surprised if they only asked for one set of keys.

Thanks.

One remote, one non-remote is the default here and I believe in the UK.

you should ask in the new bravo section because things change over time.

it used to be 3 keys, then 2 keys, i would not be surprised if 1 key is normal now and the second key costs extra, but at the same time i do not know for sure so it is best to ask in the bravo section.

Hi NBO, Welcome to the FF.

I've never known any new car to come with less than 2 original keys as standard.

What often happens is that previous owners will 'forget' about the spare key left at home in a drawer when selling or trading the car in.

If you have the V5C registration document, it will show the name and address of the previous owner. You could phone or write to him/her to ask if they have the other key and would send it to you.

Me, being suspicious (careful ?), I would not give your own address but that of a freind who lives as far away as possible for them to send the key to if they have it.

Last time I tried this, the previous owner sent me 2 spare keys, a spare remote control and the handbooks for the car.

Dave.

I just sold a 1-year old bravo Sport, it should come with two keys.
One flip-out remote key and one normal, non-remote basic key.
Quite often the non-remote basic key is in a small white jiffy bag with the car's reg written on it.

At least that has been the way with the four fiat's I've had over the last few years.

Thanks All,

I only picked the car upon Saturday but I think I will contact the previous owner once the documents arrive. Having previously locked myself out of another car (oops! blame it on the small child in tow) and had to get someone to bring the spare to get into it, I am a bit wary of only having one key so even if I can't track the original, I guess I'll end up having to stump up for a spare.

if you only want a spare to get in the car then timpsons can copy your key for £4 (but it wont start the engine obviously)

I took delivery of a 4 year old Stilo on Saturday from a reputable independant specialist (Fiat and Alfa), it came with two remote type keys. They insist on any car they buy, having a full set of keys. Which has been true for the three cars I bought from them over the years.
