Can anyone verify that Lancia vehicles are not sold in the UK? Does anyone know when they ceased to be sold in the UK? I've heard that the Lancia Delta is going to serve as the reintroduction of Lancia into the UK when its released there later this year, but I'm not 100% sure on this... I can't find any of the articles I remembered reading it in. Thanks!

The new Delta is a stretched and up-specced Bravo and is coming to the UK. It's had good reviews. wasnt the Dedra the last Lancia in the UK. it's always nice to see a Lambda at Auto Italia, they were the best car in the world when they were new,

I was told by the Abarth dealer today that there will be Abarth versions of Lancia and Alfa at some point.

The last true Abarth was an integrale, more specifically the rally cars which were run by Abarth.

After demise of the rally team, Abarth was broken up and many of the engineers went to work for Astra Racing who bought up all the Abarth stock from Fiat which you can still buy to this day for your 'grale, including the gearbox's, carbon driveshafts etc if you have lots of cash, like £12K+ for Abarth gearboxes.

The old Abarth factory is now gone, as all Abarths(rally/race cars) were built independently from the normal stuff.

You have to remember Abarth the brand were not exclusive to Fiat although owned by Fiat since '69 IIRC, they used to make Simca's which were French and owned by Renault, and did aftermarket tuning goods to help fund the rallying activities including cams and exhausts for E30 BMW's amongst others, old/new stock on occasions still crops up on ebay.

Though I believe Abarth in most peoples eyes is associated with Fiat and as such should be kept like that so as not to confuse the general public. Though with some form of education, maybe through slick advertising campaigns showing integrale's ripping through the Keilder Forrest back when rallying was good and seeing the Abarth overalls that were worn by the pit crew perceptions could change.

But I believe HF should be used for high performance Lancia's, not Abarth, though with the new model for the Fiat group of cars I can't really see any coming soon unless new Fulvia is actually realised.

HF it could be argued have much much more heritage than Abarth did, it goes all the way back to Fulvia's, Stratos', 037 Rally, Delta S4 7 integrales all of which excepting the S4 were world championship winning cars, though of course built and run by Abarth.

Abarth as a brand has to be kept to smaller cars to start with until brand is built up as this is where its heritage is.

Cloverleaf, hasn't quite got the cache of either Abarth or HF, but this could be changed by relaunching an Alfa in the World Touring Cars series and using it to promote the image, well if they win that is, but going on previous performances should be competitive.

And no you can't get a RHD EVO unless it has been converted by either Mike Spence or John Whally from new using RHD dash board and some nasty Fiat Regata steering rack which is meant to by poor when compared to LHD cars which have beautiful steering feedback and feel.

There is a nice integrale FE (final Edition) for sale at present in Belgium in a Citroen dealership???????? that has less than 3000KLMS on it from new, yours for a bargain 70,000Euros!

Of course there are cheaper examples out there :D

alfa have said they would still be in WTCC if they had a car they could use, but they dont have one any more (159 isnt suitable for s2000 apparently) and they wont have one in the foreseeable future so it may be a long time before we see another alfa touring car, possibly never.

No need to go as far as Belgium for a virtually as new example

Yes but that is only a Giallo model, when you could buy a FE model, much rarer as only 250 were made and all for Japanese market as they absoultly love there Lancia's in Japan, its sometimes easier to get parts for Lancias in japan than it is in Europe, go figure that one out!

The Japanese rarely let there very good cars go, hence why so few integrale FE's make it back here, and when they do at very high prices, unlike JDM cars which do as they are hardly going to let go of cars that still have a market in home country :)

And I say that as someone who has a JDM car that a greatly enjoy along with my integrale :D

The 159 is far to heavy, made when joint venture with GM, so had to meet SAAB criteria. It is said if there was such a thing as 6 stars on EURO NCap it would get it, meant to be getting lighter on facelifted models to not only make them more enjoyable to drive, but quicker and more fuel efficient as a result. Brera is due same treatment.

But when a 147 replacement comes out, it must be SEAT Leon sized so going on there success with not only petrol but diesel could have a contender. SEAT have gone from making "System Engine Porsche" Ibiza's to having the Cupra R badge as halo models on back of S1600 Rallying and more recently WTC and BTC cars.

Ah well we can only hope that they join in again soon in motorsport.

the 149/milano/milan/whatever is going to be built on the fiat bravo, same as the Lancia Delta HPE, so i doubt it will make it to WTCC. then again, alfa have turned fiat shopping cars into gold more than once in the past (amazing the difference a couple of extra wishbones can make lol) so maybe they can pull it off again.

the 155 seemed to do alright, underneath it is very much the same as a tipo, 'till it was given a widened track but still used exactly the same suspension set up.

yeah 155 was a great touring car, and the 156 was also based on the same tipo platform and did even better. the gtv/spider and 147/GT and 145/146 are also all based on the tipo platform. the 159 was the first non-tipo based alfa for a long time.

its a shame that fiat were unable to offer a different platform on which to base new generation alfas, but there wasnt a suitable platform available for the 159. since then, alfa have been able to turn the grande punto into the mito and the bravo into the milano/milan/149* (delete as appropriate) but neither the GP or bravo platforms are half as well engineered as the tipo platform so personally i doubt those platforms will give birth to alfas that make it in motorsport, but you never know.
