I am in a slight mess here! I have a zastava 750 (fiat 600D) and am in the process of rebuilding a fiat 900t engine to go in it :bang:.

I have a nagging doubt in the back of my mind that the 900t engine rotates clockwise......can anyone confirm this? I know that the zastava defiantly runs anti-clockwise.

Any thoughts much appreciated!

Ta:)

you're right, the 903cc engine rotates the opposite way, so you'll only be able to go forward using reverse gear.

you need to adapt it to rotate the correct way. this requires a new cam and oil seals. do not ignore the oil seals they MUST be changed.

next issues are the water pump and starter motor. you can use parts from other fiats to fix this, but they must be modifed, and i cant remember which cars are suitable donors.

cooling is a problem too. Abarth solved this by mounting a front radiator, you should do the same, and add a fan.

there are many other issues to consider, for example the engine cover wont close because the 903 is too tall, so you need to make a latch to hold it partially open. (that is why all true 903's have an ajar cover)

you really need to get some advice and assistance form someone who has done this before.

Re: Fiat 900t engine D.O.R? Cinq head gaskets

Thanks for the advice. I can now advise for anyone daft enough to try the same, that a cinq block with an 850 head and dissy will (just) fit into a fiat 600D/zastava 750 and the D.O.R is the same (clockwise from crank end).(y)

However, I need some more advice!

Anyone know the correct tightening torque for the cylinder head on a 903 cinq? I used the original fiat 600 torque which I don't think was tight enough. This time I will be fitting new head bolts and a 'decent' gasket!

Any thoughts:confused: - much appreciated!
