sat nav vs 9 year olds day out

pml on the tube this morning when i read that in the metro. Must have known they were going the wrong way when they started to drive through Islington!!!

They're going back to using maps, but got to within 18 miles and still couldn't find it! Doesn't bode well for the future.

And the kids were accompanied by teachers. I find it frightening that people that incompetent are in charge of a busload of children!

it's easily done. if you're in a hurry you just chuck the sat nav on thinking it'll take you there (without checking map) and it turns out to be entirely useless. but i prefer to drive the route from memory of looking at a map. Sat nav would only be useful if trying to find a particular house in a housing estate or somewhere away from major roads.

well, there certainly isn't two of the same postcode in the country, so why not use that, or at least zip to the end of the instructions to make sure its the right destination..

saying that, i've never owned a sat nav, only used one a few times, and didn't get on with the distractions of it (too many toys takes my attention off the road), only reason I thought they were neat was 'actual' speed readouts, and comparing cars for how fast they are really going
