not really sure if theres any other bikers on here..but here goes

i'm replacing my bike that was nicked (http://tackycheese.net/images/misc/bikes/mine/full_shot_front.jpg). My old bike was built by moi and was well on its way to being quite a good bike.. anyway, its gone.

I'm going to the bike show at the NEC on 16th april. I plan to buying similar parts, same frame shape, d521s, xt drive train etc etc.

Anyway.. the main difference is that i want disc brakes. My old frame had disc mounts, but my shifters were integrated and i didnt disc hubs.. so upgrading to disc brakes would be rather pricey.. but seeing as tho im building this one from scracth i can start with them in there.

I vaguhly remember in MBUK them reviewing some rather cheap hydraulic (not touching cable) disc brakes.. does anyone know what they were, or roughly how much they were.. or any suggestions for else where on the bike?

cheers!

£149.95 or the deore discs come at about £55 an end but then you need wheels so this is a good price
http://www.merlincycles.co.uk/acatalog/copy_of_Sale_Frames.html maybe even a frame here for you? sheesh I should be on commision, are you listening Mr Merlin;)

I've got a Merlin bike, it's Malt1 SE, bought it last year, it's their cheapest model (altho mine's specced up with a 2003 MX Comp fork) and it's a cracker :D Their frames are fantastic for the money, better than my last bike (a GT which some b***ard nicked) infact.
Plus I somehow ended up with the silver one rather than the cheapo blue finish :p so it looks the business too!

Have you tried http://www.chainreactioncycles.co.uk (or may be .com) for your brakes, they're usually pretty good.
