Hello All,

It's been a bloody long time since I've posted on FF, however - I have been lurking and keeping an eye to see what's been going on!

I thought I'd update everybody!

I sold my Punto on eBay to some 16 year old Chav kid . I got £1700 all in all if I remember correctly. I had just had it tinted, the wheels on it, sound system sorted, exhaust done - I am stupid.

I then bought a BMW 318i (1994 model) from eBay... I paid £760 and considering it only had 48,000 on the clock, I think I did well. Wrong, it was the biggest mistake I've made in a long time. The car was fine for a week and then the problem's started. Overheating due to a hole in the radiator piping, the catalytic converter corroded and was none existent, the amount of rust was a joke, there was an oil leak from god knows where, the power steering column was malfunctioning, the ABS sensors were snapped off and a lot more which I won't list.
The BMW put my step brother and I in hospital as the radiator cap decided to pop off when the car was over heating, whilst I was looking in to the engine to figure out where the smoke was coming from, I had 3rd extremely bad burns on my hand and partly, but not as bad, on my face. Step brother got out fine.
A waste of money - £760 + £2600 insurance, although I only paid an extra £600 premium as the Punto's insurance covered the majority of the BMW's costs. I should have kept my Punto.

My hand then heals, and I had time in between to fix the BMW. I am happy.

I follow a friend on the road with another friend behind me. Friend in front is a bit too cocky and didn't see a round-about coming, breaked hard, alerting me and causing me to break - lucky, I stopped about 0.3 metre from his car. Wrong, up come's my other friend and slams in to the back of the BMW, pushing me in to the back of my friends car and then causing me to bounce of the rear of his, then being sandwiched yet again between the two. Great. No damage to the other cars just a bit less paint - BMW is a write off. Finally got the car home and  basically - then realized there is no point going through insurance due to the circumstances. I am sure if anybody has had to go through insurance before they will understand.

Train to work in the freezing cold. Managed to get to the scrap yard and get a new slam panel, grille and rad fan.
The weekend came and I could finally fit it all in the day light. No, it rains. I am out in the rain removing the slam panel - the god damn torx screw rounds off. After hours of chopping, sawing, screwing, drilling, hammering and swearing I give up.

BMW on eBay. It sells, £150.

I now have a Vauxhall Astra 1.6 sxi in Star Silver. It's the best yet.
Everything finally got better!

WRONG - JVC head unit decided to blow up today .

Hope everyone has been ok and that is all I have to moan about!

Peter

1) bad luck
2) e36 BM's are the spawn of satan I told you that when you got it (I think:rolleyes: ).
3) your mates are tosser's, the BM should easily outhandle qutie a few other cars as long as you have the balls to keep it smooth and stay the hell away from the brakes unless you are in a perfect straight line
4) abs sucks, get un assisted brakes, ABS especially sucks on gravel roads, or roads with mud on, I'd rather control the brakes myself. the newer yr2000> type abs's with a computer and EBD are much better
5) again, your other mate is a tosser, he owe's you £££
6) astra = (n) The square backed (mk4?) ones are OK, but the 1.6 is pathetic, 1.8 reapes similar fuel economy and actually moves the car forwards:) diesel is the way forward. round/.bubble shape astra's are the other spawn of satan.
7) JVC = satans evil thai cousin. great excuse to buy an Alpine, far supirior japaneese plasteque:yum:
8) buy another punto, you know what goes wrong with them, and judging by the amount of £££ on that insurance you could easily have a sporting or a mk2 diesel without breaking the bank
