Any suggestions as to how to dry out a mobile?

Mine accidentally went for a swim down the toilet this evening

Its only a month old and I dont think its covered by my house insurance :bang:

Oh Angel! lol i can only suggest leaving it to dry out and seeing what happens. Depends on if your screen is messed up really.

Hope the water was clean lol

Remove the battery straight away, place the phone in a warm oven, for a long time (make sure its not too hot or that will damage the phone in its self) then let it cool down slowly in the oven. This may sound far fetched but it has worked for me, and also someone elses PDA. Main thing dont turn it on till its dry and do not get it too warm, I would say if its too warm for you to handle then its too hot for the phone.

Erm it was clean water lol and the phone was on, looks pretty dead at the moment. Have tried to towel dry it, but will put the radiators on overnight and give it a drying.

I'm gutted

I would not put it in an Oven. I was going to suggest a Radiator but even this may be too hot for an electronic device like a mobile phone. The components may suffer long term permanent damage at excess heat which may result in random phone crashes, switching off and poor signal strength.

An airing cupboard or radiator is hot enough. I've left a phone out in a storm overnight while at a wedding. Took it apart, poured the water out of it, clipped it into the phone holder infront of the air vents in my tipo and drove home. By the time I got home (about 5 hours) it was dry and started first time.

don't put it on radiator, it needs to dry slowly.

oven sounds daft, as it'll be nestling on metal bars or a tray and that is just going to get it oily(y)

airing cupboard or on top of a mug inside boiler cupboard (with boiler on:rolleyes: )
it needs to dry slowly and leave it a good 72hours (3days) before attempting to play with it.

toweling it is going to do nothing but dry the cover.

I dont have a boiler cupboard or airing cupboard so it will have to be on top of radiator I think.

Would heat from a hair dryer help at all?

My mate managed to drop his into a cup of tea once! :D

We took it apart, sponged dried it as best we could then sprayed it in WD40 (all over the electrics) before leaving it in the airing cupboard. Next day we mopped as much of the WD40 off as we could, put it back together and it still worked!

nothing to worry about, i dropped mine off a boat into the sea when fishing. it went down over 20ft according to the fish finder. after half an hour of searching i managed to get it back. 2 days in the sun later it worked fine, all i needed was a new battery because the old one started to leak and wouldnt hold charge for long. and that was salty water so if that didnt kill it nothing will.

then again this was back in 97 when nokias were built to last. it was a 1611, anyone remember them?
