alainax said:ive phoned them today, are saying thre gonnabe sending an engineer out first, what does that mean?
they told me on friday that they were going to fix it and asked which garage id liked it fixed at,mase said:is this the first engineer that has been out?
have the insurance company already decided if it is finanially worth fixing?
i mean.... if your bike is worth say 4k, and the engineer says the damage will cost 5k to fix, the other perssons insurance company arent going to pay that extra money and the bike will be a 'Cat C' write off.... meaning it isnt financially worth fixing.
thats wat happened with my first cento... they accepted liability, sent an engineer out, he declared it a write off, and i got offered an ammount as a settlement for it. (usually market value of the car / bike involved)
alainax said:they told me on friday that they were going to fix it and asked which garage id liked it fixed at,
its the first engineer out.
the bikes worth 2.5k the damage is £1800.
im confused now, are they gonna fix it or not?
lol! im worried that the engineers gonna go nah were not fixing it!mase said:just ignore me and my ramblings its usually the best plan of action
they would only write it off if the damage cost more to repair than the bike was worth... but as u already have a quote for the damage, there is no danger of that happening
youll be fine and she be back on the road in no time

il let yas know tho!
i hope so! :slayer:mase said:the others persons insurance company will want to send their own engineer to make sure the damage quotes are accurate, standard procedure.
there is a big difference between £1800 and £2500, so i really dont think u have anything to worry about.
it will all be good and youll be wizzing about in your leathers before you know it
no ive already had 2 estimates done, one from a registerd suzuki garage and 1 from my local garage, both of which were around that mark. yes claiming her ins, wasnt my fault n shes admitted liabiltyGoldie Punto said:So how do you know there is £1800 worth of damage, is that your own estimate ?
Are you claiming off the other persons insurance ?
alainax said:ok well the inspector been and gone and gave me the news.
ready..........
my bikes market value=£2550
Cost to repair=£1800.
salvage value=£1200.(much my bike is worth now shes damaged it.
will pay me £1500 cash and i keep the bike as a non write off (cash settlement)
i think thats pretty good!
paulbfd said:Sounds like a fair deal to me. Should cost half what they reckon to fix.
yeah what he sed!!paulbfd said:She gets to keep the bike, so she's kinda getting £2,700. £1,500 & "salvage value" of £1,200.
