How come you're taxing the car mid month? You'll have to back date it to the beginning of June and lose three weeks? Wait a couple of weeks and you'll be able to tax it from the beginning of July!

Rules is rules, annoying at times I know, but seem to recall having run 2 cars off one insurance policy before now.

I've taxed a car on a temporary policy before now but by the time they get the paperwork to you the insurance will have started for the Marea anyway. You can't do it online if there's loads of new stuff for that car eg. new owner, new insurance policy, only when it's a 'repeat' so to speak (I ran into that problem with the Cinq).

so the car isnt insured at this point then.thats the whole point of the checks otherwise you could cancel that policy before it comes into force thus having a valid tax disc and no insurance.

You can hardly blame the post office. Your car isn't road legal without valid insurance so they aren't going to issue tax. If I was you I would have done it the other way round, valid insurance, valid MOT and then get tax especially since it will be back dated to the start of the month. If you've got the documents in the car driving to the PO then the old bill aren't gonna be too worried that you are popping down the post office to get the tax.

and what do you suggest i do to get to the marea? walk? its 5.5 miles from my house, no my mates arnt available to take me to it as his car is off the road with no insurance, and everyone else works opposite hours to me.

no there isnt a bus route either.

and how do you suggest to get to work which is 10 miles away? no bus, no lifts.

post office doesnt open while i'm not at work so i cant tax it myself ever with out taking time off work which means i dont get paid.

theres no way they will issue the tax disc.i couldnt even tax the non turbo as the log book and insurance were in different names though im sure thats an error.
if i was you i would have just waited the extra days and get tax from the 1st of the month.
fact is theres no such thing as technically uninsured(except in your head)your uninsured: period

theres no point whining,the rules are there for a reason and are the same for everyone.only option you have is if you know someone with trade insurance which i assume you could use to tax any car.

yes but on the day of issue it is insured.thats all these checks can do.same as when your car is mot'd its only a snapshot of the cars road worthiness

5.5 miles walk? why not? it's about an hour on foot, you could bike cuttin' that time in 4, as for your 10 miles to work, that's a 45 min ride if your vaguely fit. This is life deal with it...
