Hello folks.

Today i renewed my insurance with Quinn-Direct as they were the cheapest. Completely happy, no gripes.

£546.95 insured, 3rd party. With one years no claims and pass plus on a '99V.

The question; they mentioned over the phone i am now able to drive any car (which is insured by someone else) with third party cover on an occasional basis. Is this right at being only 18 years of age?

For example; could i drive a Y reg BMW 318i? - M reg Renault Clio, Astra TD. Etc?

Seems a bargain if true. Thats a saving of £300 off the next best quote.

Yeah that's right, if you are fully comp on your car then you can drive another car third party that is insured by someone else. But tbh I wouldn't want to drive a decent car third party, especially not someone elses decent car

err.... :chin:

Oooooo....

im not sure, but id get them to give you written confirmation that you can drive other cars.

then if they were incorrect you can produce proof of thier mistake and you wont be at fault (y)

*goes off to check his policy*

My policy with Quinn Direct is the same. I'm covered 3rd party and I'm also covered on other cars (within reason) 3rd party. I drive my dads car which I couldn't even get a quote on, using my insurance.

As long as you have permission from the registered owner, then you've got 3rd party cover. :)

Got the certificate and confirmation of insurance from Quinn-Direct today and i can confirm:

"The policyholder, if they have a full EU licence, may also drive, with the permission of the owner, any Private Motor Car subject to the terms and conditions of the policy."

(on the back it reads basically as long as your not racing, testing, rallying, and no money handing over (taxi).

This seems a good deal, considering i'm only covered third party with them anyway. Wicked.

So yes, it seems the answer to my question is:

YES
